School Syllabus

Although our Primary School has no affiliation to any Board of Education (Central or State), but the School Text Books are all N.C.E.R.T approved text books for all subjects except the Tibetan subject.  The affiliation to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) New Delhi is applied for and in the process. With the approval of the same, the School will follow the CBSE syllabus for a Secondary School.

Subjects taught: Tibetan, English, Maths, Science, Social Studies, Computer, Tibetan and English calligraphy & EVS and Kannada Language and Tibetan Traditional Art Making. 

Basic Education Policy (BEP) of CTA, Dharamsala

All subjects except English language is taught by using Tibetan Text Books up to Class IV as per the Basic Education Policy of the Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration, Dharamsala. From class V onwards, all the subjects are taught in English medium except for Tibetan language. 

The School is availing of Text Books published by EDRC of Tibetan Children’s Village, Dharamsala and Sherig Parkhang, New Delhi.

All the students are provided with free Text Books and Exercise Books at the beginning of each Academic Year along with all the other necessary stationery. School bags are provided once in a while.

Evaluations

The evaluation system at Sermey Thoesam School follows the routine of

  1. Four Class Tests
  2. Two Unit Tests in June and September of a given year, &
  3. Promotional Anual Examination

A 4-Member Examination Committee, constituted of teachers, is responsible for the successful conduction of the 2 Unit Tests and the Annual Examination.

At the successful conclusion of the Annual Examination, Cumulative aggregated marks of the above tests and examination are entered in the MARKSHEETS by the Class Teachers for each examinee (5 marks each of the 4 Class Tests, 10 marks each of the 2 Term Tests and 60 marks of the Annual Examination – total 100 Marks). Rank holders (1st, 2nd & 3rd of each Class Section) are marked out for felicitation at the School’s Annual Prize Distribution Function. The HIGHEST MARKS SCORER of a particular year is listed in the School’s TOPPERS’ HONOUR BOARD for posterity and as an inspiration for all the other students.

Starting in 2024, Sermey Thoesam School will implement a new evaluation system.​ This framework will consist of two primary assessment sessions: a half-yearly exam and an annual exam, each contributing 40% to the overall grade on a scale of 100%. In addition, educators will conduct four monthly tests, each worth 10% of the total grade, prior to the half-yearly and annual examinations. The results from these monthly assessments will be combined with the scores from the two main exams, culminating in a comprehensive evaluation that totals 100%.
