The students of Sermey Thoesam School come from very poor and very disadvantaged families belonging to the Tibetan Refugee families and children of mainly Scheduled Tribe (ST) families of the remote Himalayan regions like:  Arunachal Pradesh (Tawang), Ladakh, Sikkim, Darjeeling, Spiti Valley, Mizoram, Assam and also from Nepal and Bhutan.  Sermey Thoesam School is able to reach out to only a very limited number of these very deserving children for proper schooling and upbringing. Sadly, there are so many children and their families who never manage to come out of this vicious cycle of poverty and illiteracy.  We are indeed grateful to our donors and sponsors for supporting us so that we, on our part, can reach out to all these very marginalized and deserving cases to make their life more promising.

Presently 431 students are studying here at Sermey Thoesam School. The children get 100% free primary schooling i.e. up to class VIII.
