As Sermey Thoesam School does not hold any affiliation to any Board of Education (Central or Regional),  the NIOS Registration and examinations that will be held at the end of the study period, the successful students will be awarded certificates by the OBE (Open Basic Education) under NIOS (National Institute for Open Schooling set up by the Government of India  as equivalent to formal  schooling  for purpose of further & distance education and employment for those who have not been able to avail  of any formal  schooling).  

This year, 58 students from Class V and 30 students from Class VIII have registered. Owing to the exceptional performance of the first batch in NIOS 2023-2024, the school has opened admissions for Class X students. Presently, 9 students have enrolled. Overall, this year 97 students have enrolled for the OBE/NIOS study program for 2024-2025, with examinations scheduled for February 2025.

Finally the children will have a School Certificate with proper recognition that will enable them to continue with their further schooling in any reputable Tibetan or Indian School. It is good to note that majority of the students at the School do opt to join the Sera Mey Monastery as a full time monk but there are students who are choosing to go for further schooling and this will come as a very big effort by the School for their long term benefit.
